Founded in San Antonio, CAM Solar looks to provide a brighter future for our local community through green initiatives, community involvement, and trustworthy customer service. The owners of CAM Solar studied the huge potential of solar and other forms of renewable energy. It was the start of a lifelong love affair where making a substantive difference in the lives of Texans was a genuine possibility. They set off to empower their vision with specialized training and their overwhelming desire to assume the active role of converting the people of Texas to Solar. They devised a company charter that defined for themselves their role: “to provide the smartest solar -engineered solutions that are as right for their customers as they are for the environment”. Student Interns

Hi, my name is Kristen Courett. I’m a native Austinite, currently pursuing an AAS in Renewable Energy Technology at Austin Community College (ACC). The ECEJ Program matched me with a Power Systems Modeling internship at 7X Energy, where I was able to learn how to input data into PROMOD software to determine congestion and curtailment calculations, ultimately helping site projects. During my summer internship with 7X, I also helped research and confirm information about the US electric grid, specifically of energy generation and transmission. I am passionate about clean energy, environmental sustainability, and growing and maintaining wholesomeness. If I’m not sitting in the park meditating or listening to music, I’m biking or learning something new. It was once ASL and now, guitar!

Hey, my name is Louis Diara, and I am going into my sophomore year at the University of Texas at Austin in the fall. I just transferred into architectural engineering, as I would like to do construction and development engineering professionally. I am currently interning with Silver Electric and Solar as an apprentice electrician. While I have gotten to do some electrical work out on some job sites, I have also been working in the office around the founder and owner of the company, Joe Silver. I am learning a lot about professional communication and relationships both on job sites and in the office, so this has really been a great experience for me. Outside of that, I really enjoy playing video games and exploring nature and parks.

Hello, I’m Joshua Eudave. I am currently pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. The ECEJ Program matched me with a PV Site Designer internship at 7X Energy. This internship is exactly in line with what I want to do – build a greener future founded on clean, renewable resources. Originally from El Paso, I hope to continue working in the clean energy industry when I graduate in May 2021.

My name is Nakyshia Fralin, and I’m currently an undergraduate at Huston-Tillotson University majoring in Environmental Studies with a minor in Political Science. I was born and raised in Wichita, KS, which is where my love for nature grew.  My goals revolve around helping the African American community when it comes to accessibility and equity within the environmental realm. I interned with NATiVE Solar as their Social Media and Content Intern. I was responsible for managing their social media accounts, creating articles/blogs weekly for their website, and helping and supporting their outreach programs.

Hey! I’m Chandaice Wilson, and I’m currently studying Business Administration and International Management at Texas A&M University – San Antonio (TAMUSA). Over the summer and fall 2020, I worked along the CAM Solar team as their Marketing and Sales Intern. With this internship, I look forward to learning more about different career paths within the renewable and clean energy sector. I greatly value any effort made to help curb climate change, and would love to work in an industry leading the charge in the shift away from fossil fuels.

Hello, I’m Alyson Vargas! This spring (2020), I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Communication and Leadership and a B.A. in Sustainability. 8minute Solar Energy brought me on board as their People Operations and Administration Interns, through with I was able to learn more about the importance of equity and diversity in the solar energy industry. I can’t wait to learn more about this industry and be able to build up my experience so I can soon join the professionals like my amazing supervisors at 8minute, in this journey to making the U.S. anew with renewable energy with equity and inclusion as its root.
