In the second installment of Solar Austin’s Happy Hour policy series, we will be zooming out from local energy policy to discuss what’s happening on the national stage. This October, please join us for an evening with one of the brightest minds in energy: MacArthur Fellow and Energy Director of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), Dr. David Goldstein!

From helping design energy-saving household appliances to advocating for utility-scale energy efficiency standards, Dr. Goldstein has adeptly eliminated political and economic obstacles over the past 40 years to promote a cleaner and more efficient energy paradigm. His work developing comprehensive and necessary clean energy policies has been instrumental in putting not only the U.S., but also Russia, Kazakhstan, and China on track for a greener future.

These policies have enabled the U.S. to more quickly adopt technologies that push for a swift transition into a 21st century clean energy future. This happy hour is your chance to learn more about what Dr. Goldstein envisions for the future and what actions need to be taken to bring us closer to a net-zero reality. Our conversation will be valuable as we move into another year of worsening effects of climate change, and into a new presidency. Whether you’re a college student, Texas transplant, or lifelong Austinite, we look forward to learning together how we can build a greener future.
