Solar Austin is excited to announce the first in a three-part happy hour series centered around local, federal, and state energy policy. September’s happy hour will be a unique opportunity to learn about and discuss the City of Austin’s Climate Equity Plan with the Climate Program Manager himself: Zach Baumer!
Ratified by Austin City Council in 2015, the Austin Community Climate Plan was originally a pledge to reduce the city’s carbon emissions to net-zero by 2050. In pursuit of this ambitious goal, the city implemented a number of strategies to lower emissions across Austin’s energy, transportation, and waste management sectors. Five years in, it’s time to adopt a new plan. Join us as we look inside the draft Austin Climate Equity Plan.
Solar Austin encourages you to read the Austin Climate Equity Plan (download the full version here + the summary document here). The ‘Speak Up’ period during which citizens can offer their input to the Office of Sustainability closes on September 30th, so we hope that this happy hour not only informs, but inspires you as a citizen to use your voice!
